Stephen Hendee reimagines classic pinball machines as sculptural objects and playable artworks. By retheming out-of-commission machines, he erases out-of-date tropes, and revives them with the distinctive aesthetic language that defines his large-scale architectural installations and luminous light-based works. Hendee's trio of hand-built pinball machines, inspired by science fiction writer Stanisław Lem, was recently presented in competition at PinBaltimore.
Commissions are available for collectors interested in the intersection of sculpture, design, and interactive play.
